April Education Report

IN THE WOODS
Spring programs began a month early with Watershed Discovery in April. Forest Field trips were conducted with bloc classes which were much more conducive to the quiet nature writing activities. We saw and heard a great many of the student’s native animals on the field trip and creature feature reports are proving to be of good quality this year. Cool weather continued through April providing an extended wildflower season. Our third grade growing wild program will begin later in May.
NEWSLETTER
The newsletter was mailed out to 2009’ and 2010’ members- a tough love mailing list provided by our new database system. All of us should be encouraging friends and forest lovers that we know to get current with the group! Jean succeeded in working out file glitches with Anacortes Printing in order to post our newsletter on the website.
CITY and SCHOOL
Jonn and Gary are meeting this week and we will set up our post CEP discussion meeting.
The Anaco Bourne developer has appealed the planning commission decision to deny, and his appeal will be heard by City Council on Monday, May 17th. The public can attend but there will be no open testimony allowed. The council has been studying all public record on the matter- including our previous letters.
