A Letter from Katie Earley
Dear Friends Community,
It is with real sadness that I announce my stepping down as Executive Director of Friends of the ACFL at the end of 2024. This decision comes much sooner than I had anticipated, and it has not been an easy one. My reason for leaving is family-related, and while I will greatly miss being part of this incredible organization, I know it is the right choice for my family at this time.
Over the past year, I’ve been so proud of the growth and progress we’ve achieved together. One of the highlights of this year has been the opening of the Forest Discovery Center and I’m excited to see all the new ACFL-related programming and resources this new community hub will bring. Ellie, Hannah, and Kendra have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, and it’s been a privilege to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team.
As I reflect on the progress we’ve made, I’m filled with confidence and optimism for the future of Friends. We’ve built an incredible team and the organization is in a strong position for a new Executive Director to step in and continue our forward momentum.
I am fully committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. I’m working closely with the board, staff, and community to ensure Friends is well-positioned for its next chapter.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as Executive Director of such a remarkable organization. It has been an honor to be part of this community and to work toward the shared mission of protecting and stewarding the Anacortes Community Forest Lands. While I am stepping away from my role, I will remain a passionate supporter and look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of Friends in the months and years to come.
Feel free to reach out with any questions and I hope to stay connected with the Friends community. Thank you again for your support and shared commitment to Friends of the ACFL!
With gratitude,
Katie Earley
